Day2, Nigata City

The next morning, I decided to take the 11:47 train to Niigata.

It was a local train journey. The trip to Niigata would take 90 minutes.

It’s lunchtime. I’m having Ramen Jiro.

Niigata is a direct branch of Jiro, a famous ramen shop in Tokyo.

Unusually for a Jiro in a regional area, it’s located within walking distance of the station.

I chose the mini ramen for 850 yen. When handing over the meal ticket, you can customize it.

I chose extra garlic.

How delicious!

I have moved to the Bandaijima Art Museum.

Snack time

Mikazuki Italian unique Nigata local food

Mikazuki Italian unique Nigata local food

Mikazuki’s Italian dish is unique.

It’s basically yakisoba (stir-fried noodles) with a Bolognese-style tomato sauce.

This is a dish unique to Niigata.

The spicy pickled ginger was a nice touch.

Dinner time – the sky is still bright.

The reason I chose this place was because it was close to the hotel and served seafood and sushi.

The restaurant’s name is “Sado Benkei no Nakidokoro” (Sado Benkei’s Weak Point).

It’s a flat, counter-style restaurant.

However, it was a real find. It was incredibly cheap and delicious!

It’s so delicious!

Nigiri sushi made with Sado tuna. From left to right: otoro (fatty tuna), akami (lean tuna), and chutoro (medium-fatty tuna).

This restaurant is more than satisfactory. You should definitely go there when you visit Niigata.

I have to go back to Tokyo tomorrow. I ate something delicious, so I can sleep soundly.
