First visit to Sendai

This is my first visit to Sendai.

Even though it was October, it was hot and muggy.

I think it was because of the thick clouds.

I was a little disappointed because I could see blue sky in places.

The Tohoku Shinkansen is the most convenient way to get from Tokyo to Sendai.

It takes about 90 minutes to get there.

After arriving at Sendai Station, if you walk a little to the north, you will come across a tall building called AER, and its 31st floor is an observation deck.

Anyone can go up there for free.

You shouldn’t compare it to Tokyo, but you can see the mountains right away, so you can understand that it is a fairly large city.

Perhaps because of the snowfall in the Sendai area, covered shopping streets seem to be developing.

The tube-like structure on the left side of the photo is a shopping street.

There seem to be fewer of these in Tokyo, but more in Osaka.

The opposite side of the station is probably undergoing redevelopment.

I can see a wide road, the likes of which I have never seen in Nagoya.

It’s a direction I won’t be able to see on this trip.

The shrine is easily accessible by subway.

Take the Tozai Line from Sendai and arrive two stops later.

The station is called Omachi Nishi Koen.

Sendai Dai Jingu Shrine

Sendai Dai Jingu Shrine

Sendai Dai Jingu Shrine

I search for the explanation on google.

Sendai Daijingu is a shrine located in Aoba Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, and is affectionately known as “Miyagi’s Ise Shrine.”

It enshrines the deity Amenominakanushi as its main deity.

It is now also known as the god of matchmaking, and is a pioneer of Shinto wedding ceremonies in the prefecture.

It was small and not very spacious, but it was a large shrine (a high-ranking shrine).

Everything was designed to be high in preparation for river flooding.

To me, as a painter, shrines are not religious buildings, but rather works of art from ancient times.

I visit various parts of Japan to appreciate them.

The proper etiquette for visiting a shrine is two bows, two claps, and one bow.

Before that, you are supposed to purify your hands and mouth with clean water before entering the shrine grounds.

However, due to the effects of COVID-19, many shrines are omitting this procedure.

I asked Gemini for explanation.

Sakuraoka Daijingu Shrine is a shrine located in Nishi Park in Aoba Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture.

Its origins date back to when Date Masamune enshrined a branch of the Ise Grand Shrine, and the enshrined deities are Amaterasu Omikami and 16 others. Locals also call it “Oshinmesan.”

Sendai Daijingu Shrine and Sakuraoka Daijingu Shrine are not that far apart, yet they are both Daijingu Shrines.

I think this is an interesting case.

Sakuraoka Daijingu Shrine seems a little larger, but it’s not.

I wonder why they didn’t make it larger in a rural area like Sendai.

If you visit during the cherry blossom season, the cherry blossoms are beautiful, so you should definitely visit in the spring.

Beef Tongue Restaurant Kaku

Sendai is famous for its beef tongue dishes.

I don’t know why.

I chose this place without doing much research, mainly because it was close to my hotel.

However, it turned out to be a jackpot.

It was far more delicious than the beef tongue I had in Tokyo.

It was my first time in Sendai, so it’s hard to compare, but the salting of the beef tongue, the way it was grilled, the texture, and the delicious flavor that oozed from the inside were all first-rate.

The name of the chef was displayed at the entrance, and it was Mr. Sato.

It’s not a high-end restaurant by any means, but it’s a place where many people can enjoy dinner.

Thank you, Sato-san.

I had a really delicious grilled beef tongue.

Thank you for the meal.

I returned to the hotel feeling happy.

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
