Kumano Hongu Taisha
It was my dream to visit “Kumano area“, actually Wakayama prefecture, center of Japan main island.
Kumano area has a lot of mountains.
I went from Osaka to reach there.
It takes almost 5 hours.

Kumano area is mysterious indeed.
Ancient time there were many tribes living in this area.
Before 2600 years, GOD created Japan Islands according to the mythology.
Descendants of the GOD is Imperial Family and the oldest royal family in the world.
At the same time the first emperor conquered ancient Japan with the help of tribes who lived in Kumano.
North of the Kumano area is Nara and Kyoto, ancient capital of Japan.
So emperor thanks to the tribes who helped to unify many tribes as a Japanese.
The tribes who led emperor called “Yatagarasu“, crow with three legs.

You can walk 10 mins to reach the original place where Kumano Hongu Taisha was.
You will see a huge “Torii gate”
Kumano Hongu Taisha was built on the sandbank in the Kumano river.
In 1989, big flood water hit many buildings and just four buildings remained.
People rebuild four buildings on the top of the mountain nearby, current place.

Even now, the original place has a holly power and many people likes to visit there.
