I visited “Kanonji”

Kannonji station

Kannonji station

I moved to “Kanonji station“.

It takes almost an hour to be there from Okayama station by train.

It cost ¥2,870, US$20 per person.

The object to visit here is to see a huge sand art.

An old coin “Kanei tsuho” is designed as a huge sand art.

That was used in 17th century.

You can take a taxi and directly go to the top of the mountain easy to see.

I recommend you to walk.

It takes about 15 minutes walk from the station to the foot of the mountain.

Actually you can climb the stairs of the shrine and reach the top of the mountain.

Now we got to the bottom of the mountain, there is a big torii gate.

You can climb up the stairs.

Very simple.

Long long stairs.

Windy and chilly.

I thanked for stairs.

I climbed slowly, climbing and resting.

Some old man kept climbing without taking any breaks.

Amazing.

Almost there.

I prayed at the main building of Kotohiki Hachiman gu jinja shrine.

Thanks for my health.

There is an observation deck behind the shrine.

Zenigata Sunae (Kanei Tsuho)

Zenigata Sunae (Kanei Tsuho)

This sand painting was drawn on the white sand of Ariake Beach.

How big is it!

It measures 122m from east to west, 90m from north to south, and 345m in circumference.

If you look at this sand painting, you will be healthy and live a long life, and you will have no financial problems.

Sound nice.

Kanonji is an old tourist destination with fewer people staying there long term.

So many of the hotels and restaurants are dilapidated.

There doesn’t seem to be any special food.

I’ll just go back to Okayama.
