From ancient times visiting “Ise Shrine” is a great pleasure.
It was getting popular in the 17th century, the Edo period.
At that time travel was restricted strongly for many reasons.
The economical reason is first.
Many people are farmers and they belong to the land. If they travel around Japan, who will work for harvesting. It is efficient to let them do only farming. Rice harvesting is the fundamentals of the Economy.
The second reason is Governance.
Farmers never know the difference between the lands. If they travel and compare each other dissatisfaction could occur.
But going to “Ise shrine” was an exception.
If you are rich or even poor everybody wanted to visit there.
If you are poor, many poor people raised a fund and choose one who can go to “Ise shrine“.
“Ise shrine” has two main places to visit, one called “Geku” and another called “Naiku“.
When you visit “Ise shrine” you have to go to the Geku first.
Geku is near the “Iseshi” station and you can walk within ten minutes.
Of cause, you can take a bus or taxi if you do not want to walk.
You will reach the Hongu of Geku within ten minutes.
Hongu means the main building or place.
Toyouke-Ōmikami, the god of agriculture, rice harvest, and industry, lives here.
Here is the next land to build the same building as Hongu.
It is interesting knowledge to build the same building to the next place.
It was rebuilt every 20 years.
Rebuilding let the technology will continue to the next generation and make the job.

You can reach there from Geku by bus.

The only way to reach there to walk on the bridge.
You can wash your hands inside the shrine and this “Isuzu” river.

It is Hongu of Naiku.
The sun goddess Amaterasu lives here.
In Japanese mythology, the Emperors of Japan are considered to be direct descendants of Amaterasu.
As you know Hongu, the main shrine building is not for personal.
