Shikanoshima near Hakata

This was my first visit to “Shikanoshima“, small island near Hakata bay.

Notable people from the island include Nogizaka46 member Yūki Yoda.

In the 3rd century, Empress Jingu is said to have stopped in this island to conquer the Korean peninsula.

In the 7th century, trade with China and the Korean Peninsula was important to Japan.

Hakata bay had the major trade ports.

In the 14th century, a Mongol army tried to invade Japan but failed.

A Mongol army was consisted with a Chinese army commander and an army from the Korean peninsula.

The island’s inhabitants were tragically murdered.

However, the Japanese samurai launched a surprise attack at night and devastated the Mongol ships.

This is a place with such an ancient history.

If you drive here you can go around within an hour.

The sea is endlessly beautiful and peaceful.

Famous tempura restaurant “Hirao“

I had to go back to Tokyo I went to the airport and had a lunch.

Near “Fukuoka airport”, there is a famous tempura restaurant “Hirao“.

Many locals and foreigners are coming.

You might be surprised to see how long people sit and wait.

Squid salted arms (left dish) is delicious.

Usually you can eat tempura with tempura soup with grated radish.

A lot of people.

Eating and waiting.

Rotation of the customer is important to this restaurant.

Unless they can not maintain cheap tempuras.

When you finished just get away and let the next customer has a seat.

It tastes good and artistic.
